THE ART COURSES BY “ANASTASSIA’S ART HOUSE”
Anastassia’s Art House is Hong Kong’s only Russian Art Academy & Art Gallery.
The Academy is offering Art Education of the highest standards with a mission of exposing Hong Kong to the vast wealth of Russian & Western cultural heritage in Fine Art. They offer a wide range of classes for children and adults since 1998. Their teaching approach is inimitable and one of a kind in Hong Kong based on the world-renowned Russian Fine Arts educational system.
The Academy has an excellent team of Highly Qualified Art Educators. All of them are professional & practicing talented artists, holding degrees from renowned Art Academies or Universities and follow a specially designed curriculum with a unique teaching approach, consistent with the Academy’s mission and teaching philosophy.

The course is a structured play through structured art projects, which are specifically made for this age group, including drawing, painting, papier-mache, coloring, dying, construction, modelling & craft making. Students will learn how to work with their fingers and hands, to better develop their physical motor skills and independency in self-growth without the presence of their parents.
Creative Art Play will stimulate their sensory and build up their hand-eye coordination through different art materials such as watercolor, acrylic & tempera paints, oil & soft pastels, color pencils, pens, paper, craft paper and paper-mache. They will use and be introduced to different tools & techniques through themes such as animals, style of masters, still life, landscape & nature, while enjoying the art of creation & play.
All art activities are designed to create a free and creative environment for your toddler to fully express themselves. Through the interaction with the teacher and the art-making process, they will take away a wonderful experience and continue their artistic journey ahead.
“ART Discovery” (3-5 years old)
There's more to art than finger-painting.... Your child's first real artistic education should be something that excites and educates, encourages and motivates. The Art Discovery Introduction to the Arts is a thematically based selection of art projects specifically geared towards younger children’s interests and abilities. Using a theme chosen to captivate the younger mind, each week’s session is designed to introduce, develop, and enhance artistic skills while encouraging the child’s native creative abilities. Our popular Art Discovery program is devoted to the discovery of painting, printing, pasting, paper collage, construction and modeling projects, and uses a range of different art materials, such as watercolor, acrylic & tempera paints; oil & soft pastels; pens; paper; color paper & clay. New things are an exciting DISCOVERY at a young age, and our art program is a journey into new territories, creative and educational.
“ART Explorers” (5-7 years old)
This art course teaches the necessary artistic skills that enable students to reflect the beauty and harmony of the world, to develop the sense of composition, proportion and interaction of color and light and to draw/paint expressively. Students will study various artists, major artworks, styles and cultures from around the world. Create their own masterpieces using the elements and principles of design. Build & develop essential drawing & painting skills. Explore different media in painting and drawing: watercolor & acrylic paints; oil & soft pastels; pens and ink. Study many methods and techniques of painting, leading to the ability of painting in a spontaneous and creative way on paper, colored paper & canvas. Study mixed-media art and create an exciting selection of collages and prints. Learn to Create Works of Art in 3-Ds: Sculptures & Pottery, using clay & papier-mâché. Children are natural EXPLORERS. Exploring Art with multiple hands-on activities foster both creativity and individuality.
“ART Adventure” (6+ years old)
Young artists need challenges to grow and develop. Creativity should be fun and rewarding, and it is so when youths are encouraged to develop goals and given the skills to follow them through. With our professional-level instruction, there are no limits to what your child is able to achieve. This course teaches children to enjoy, appreciate, and create art. Students will study various artists, major artworks, styles and cultures from around the world. Create their own masterpieces using the elements and principles of design. Explore different painting & drawing media: oil, acrylic & watercolor paints; oil & soft pastels; pens & ink. Study many methods and techniques of painting, leading to the ability of painting in a spontaneous and creative way on canvas, paper & colored paper. Study mix-media art and create an exciting selection of collages and prints. Learn to Create Works of Art in 3-Ds: Sculptures & Pottery, using clay & papier mache. The Program is an exciting ADVENTURE to art using different media aiming to educate on a wide range of art topics.
"Draw & Sketch" (6+ years old)
Drawing is an essential & fundamental skill of Art! Draw & Sketch class will help children to gain the drawing skills they need to be able to draw what they see on paper by translating the three-dimensional world around them into a two dimensional drawing and to develop their own interpretation of what is around them. The class will teach children to look at the world the way artists see it in terms of shapes, lines, colors, and the relationships between these things. Each technique and theme will be demonstrated step-by-step in class, showing a variety of different methods and a range of subjects. The class introduces the full range of drawing techniques & media:
MONOCHROME MEDIA: Line & Tone; Drawing with pencils; Linear drawing; Working on toned paper, etc. Materials used: Pencils & Graphite; Charcoal; Pen & Ink; Brush & Ink
COLOR MEDIA: Blending & color mixing; Wet brushing; Impressing; Line & wash Materials used: Pastels: Soft & Oil Pastels; Colored Pencils; Water-soluble Pencils; Colored Ink; Markers

"Portfolio Preparation" (9+ years old)
The objective of our brand new and practical Portfolio Preparation course is to facilitate the development of creativeness and explore the potential of the students, especially for those who want to build a solid and comprehensive art portfolio for further arts education, either for higher educations in HK or overseas. Depending on the age of children, projects will engage in use of hands-on artmaking, painting, drawing, sketching, sculptures and working with collages & mixed medium. Students will learn the working process of professional artists, creating artworks from initial sketch and brainstorming, to creation and final completion of a truly unique in style piece of masterpiece. Each artwork will be personal and go well with the development of each individual student’s visions in art and understanding of the world in general. The key points of our Portfolio Preparation Class:
– Provides students with the knowledge and skills of working with various art medium such as sketching materials, painting medium & techniques, mixed media; 3D; palette knives, etc.;
– Provides students the opportunity of participating in creative process, from forming of idea to making of artwork;
– Enhance students’ creative thinking, aesthetic sense and self-expression;
– Develops skills of communication through art.

"Oil & Acrylic Painting"
This course is a comprehensive overview of the materials, approaches, techniques and elements of Oil & Acrylic painting. Color theory, composition, structure, proportion, perspective and paint manipulation are explored through hands-on painting and investigation of other artists’ works. Demonstrations, critiques, and slide presentations supplement studio work. Students learn to capture a scene’s light, atmosphere and mood and develop their skills in a variety of painting techniques as well as in composition and perspective. The course develops confidence both in technique and aesthetic problem solving and encourages students to develop personal approaches to painting. Course outline: Perspective, Composition, Color theory, Brushes and brush techniques, Painting knife techniques, Oil & Watercolor techniques using acrylics, unusual styles & creative techniques, Multimedia

Landscapes: Learn how to paint sky; trees; water; rocks; mountains, etc. and achieving depth

"Keys to Drawing"
